A Loveβs gem
This time though
I'd like a slow burn
Feet moving slowly
One. Tap. Tap.
Two. Tap. Tap.
Three. Embrace. Me.
I've had the passionate
Chemistry. Exploding.
Spinning. Spinning around.
Ascending from the fire
Only to fall head first
Losing pieces of my mind
Rationality. Dignity.
I'd like a cool breeze on a fall afternoon holding hands
Giggling.
Strands of hay in my fro
Blue lipstick smudged from light kisses
A love brewing from a saxophone
Sweet jazz melodies filling the room of a hidden speakeasy
Not New York
Not a hustle and bustle
Maybe a hidden gem found in a alley way

what a selfish delusion
What does it mean to look up at the sky
Thick with a white shield of safety
Lies that scream hope is beyond
When distant communities are
Poverish
Suffering
Bleeding
What does it mean to chuckle with friends about the experiences of delusion
Delusion - it is a delusion to believe this illusion is just
For what is just without Justice
We were not meant to be
Judge
nor
Jury
What does it mean to feel a mothers unconditional love
To experience a fathers warm embrace
To watch leaves roll down clean cemented sidewalks
Power washed
&
Cream
What does it mean to gather ingredients for a pot of soup
Not canned for 6.99
Picking from stalks of celery
rosemary
thyme
&
two bay leaves
Throw some creole in the blend - just to add a kick
Shred the chicken to make it stretch
Some stock and heavy cream to make it a little thick
A child
no
home
Bellies filled
with
hunger
Streets paved over
blood
&
bones
Communities moving like shadows in the night
Forgotten
in
Disarray
I had said, βthe revolution starts tomorrow.β
The revolution is in the mind
The revolution started 1000s of years ago
Our time
is
now
For what
Are you happy
With your celery
Paved streets
White shield

unbecoming
Blocked in.
Block into an assumed way of being - accepted
Carefully only showing the world half of you, while the other half sits top shelf, waiting to be
released
Constructed - to think that we are meant to only check boxes ascribed to us by man
We have been blocked in
Blocked into preconceived notions of social constructs, begging for release
And so we receive
By touch of intimacy
We receive
By the placement of a word
We receive
By a chance encounter
We receive
Refusing to be shelved any longer
The shelf breaks and a ripple occurs
This is me
To those unseen before - they call it unbecoming
Unbecoming of the person they once knew
Unbecoming of what they deem as acceptable
Unbecoming an intentional word as the very essence of becoming, is shedding and unveiling a new
version of yourself
